twice per week as follows:
| |
District 1 |
|

| |
District 2 |
|
Tuesday and Friday |
| |
District 3 |
|
Wednesday and Saturday |
PLEASE PUT CONTAINERS AT THE CURB NO EARLIER THAN 6 p.m. THE EVENING BEFORE PICKUP AND REMOVE CONTAINERS FROM CURB WHEN EMPTY
NOTE: No building materials, stumps, logs, bulkhead material or newspapers will be collected.
Holiday pickups are early so it is recommended that trash be placed curbside the evening prior to the scheduled pickup. There are no pickups on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s Day. Residents should be advised that in cases when your pickup lands on one of the listed holidays, your next pickup will be your next regularly scheduled day.
GARBAGE AND TRASH REQUIREMENTS
The garbage and trash contract places no limit on amount of garbage placed at the curb, but
does limit the amount of non-garbage to three (3) bundles or bags on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
No containers, bundles, bags, etc. can exceed 50 pounds.
The Thursday, Friday and Saturday garbage pick ups have no limitation on amount of non-garbage placed at the curb to be picked up, if bundled correctly. You may also place bulky items such as furniture, carpeting, mattresses, etc. on any scheduled Thursday, Friday or Saturday garbage pick up day during every week. Appliances, tires and metals will be picked up by the Oceanport Public Works Dept. Items must be placed at the curb with all doors removed. Call the Borough Clerk’s Office at 222-8221 and arrangements will be made to have items picked up as soon as possible.
ALL BRANCHES AND TREE LIMBS must be tied and bundled. The contractor will not pick up bundles larger than (3) feet in diameter or in lengths exceeding (5) feet. The contractor shall not be required to pickup any tree stumps or individual tree limbs or branches which exceed (3) INCHES in diameter.
DOG AND CAT REGULATIONS
Dog and cat licenses are required by January 31 of each year and may be obtained from
the Borough Clerk’s Office/Tax Office in the Municipal Building. All dogs are required to be kept
on a leash at all times when off the premises of the owners property. Free rabies shots are given every January and notice is placed in the Oceanport Bulletin and on the events sign in front of Borough Hall. State law requires that evidence of anti-rabies inoculation thru October of the licensing year be provided as a condition of issuing of a dog/cat license.
NOTE: Oceanport has a POOPER SCOOPER LAW in effect. If you don’t clean up after your dog, a summons will be issued.

TAX ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
The Assessor inspects the building exterior, foundations, roof, porches, siding, and
measures the dimensions of the building. An interior inspection provides information on plumbing, heating, floors, walls, etc. All this information is noted on the field sheet and transferred to the permanent property record card in the office. The building is sketched, classified and priced from a cost manual. The cost manual assures that the same unit prices will be used for all property of comparable construction. Land values are computed separately using land value maps. If an individual believes their assessment is inequitable, they may discuss this with the Assessor. All appeals for current year must be filed with the Monmouth County Tax Board at the Hall of Records, Freehold, NJ, on or before April 1 of the current tax year. All appeals from added assessments for new construction, additions, alterations for the current year must be filed with the Monmouth County Tax Board on or before December 1 of the current year.

| GRASS CLIPPINGS |
Grass Clippings are a major part of our town’s waste stream. In fact, nearly ONE THIRD of all summer waste
by garbage haulers is grass clippings. As an Oceanport resident, you are already helping to reduce waste by recycling bottles, plastics, cans and
newspapers. Grass can also be recycled - by leaving clippings on the lawn when you mow. GRASS IS NEVER TO TO BE BLOWN INTO THE STREETS, DOWN STORM
DRAINS OR INTO OUR WATERWAYS. Residents are reminded that all landscaping contractors are required to be licensed with the Borough Clerk’s Office.
GRASS IS BANNED FROM COUNTY LANDFILLS. |

It provides weather, emergency, public safety, traffic/travel information and special announcements. It is especially effective in your vehicle, but it has a limited coverage area and most homes will need an external antenna to receive its signal.
