MARCH 22, 2020 @ 8:00pm COVID-19 UPDATE NO. 7
The Borough of Oceanport has been advised that there are two confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Borough of Oceanport. Given the nature of the spread of this pathogen and the ample amount of evidence about how the numbers of positive cases increase, we can be assured that there will be additional cases within Oceanport over the next few weeks. Unless you have not been paying attention to the CDC and State Department of Health over the past few weeks, the fact that there are confirmed positives in Oceanport, or any town for that matter, should not come as a surprise.
This virus, like all viruses, is not restricted by municipal borders and does not discriminate when it comes to infection. Given the certainty of an uptick in positive tests, we will not be providing a notice of every confirmed positive test on the Borough of Oceanport’s website. For updates on the number of positive tests across Monmouth County, please visit the Monmouth County Public Information website at: https://co.monmouth.nj.us/PressDetail.aspx?ID=2809.
IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED OR BELIEVE YOU ARE EXHIBITING SYMPTOMS, PLEASE CALL YOUR PERSONAL PHYSICIAN. DO NOT SHOW UP AT A HOSPITAL. IF YOU SHOW UP AT A HOSPITAL WITHOUT A PRESCIPTION FOR TESTING, YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY. TESTING IS LIMITED TO THOSE WHO HAVE DEVELOPED SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19.
Jay Coffey
Mayor of Oceanport
