Recreation Coordinator/Part Time

The Borough of Oceanport seeks a community-oriented and experienced professional for a part-time position plus evenings and weekends for meetings and events as needed. Successful candidate will oversee the Borough’s Recreational Committee, attend their meetings, and prepare meeting agendas and minutes. Experience required in running a summer camp program, event planning, budgeting, personnel supervision, database management and other duties as required. Candidate shall 
  • Valid certificate as a Recreation Administrator/Supervisor issued by the New Jersey Board of Recreation preferred.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s license.
  • Must pass background check.
  • CPR certified or willing to obtain within 6 months

Administrative Assistant/Deputy Borough Clerk

The Borough of Oceanport is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as full time Administrative Assistant to the Borough Clerk with the opportunity for advancement to Deputy Borough Clerk. The ideal candidate must possess or be willing to obtain the Registered Municipal Clerk license.  The position will also entail serving as the Secretary to the Planning Board.  

The individual selected for the position shall provide administrative support including assisting the Borough Clerk with statutory duties, records management,  Open Public Records Act requests, processing of various applications, attend approximately two night meetings each month for the Planning Board, transcribe minutes for Planning Board, process Planning Board applications; assist the Borough Clerk on designated Primary Election, General Election and any other Special Elections days; provide exceptional customer service and always interact with members of the public, management, and fellow employees in a polite, courteous and professional manner; experience with Microsoft Office Suite products is required. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, self-directed with good organization, customer service, communication and computer skills. Experience with MSI and SDL a plus. RMC certification and prior municipal government experience are preferred but not required.  Working alongside an experienced Municipal Clerk, this position is a great opportunity to learn about all aspects of municipal government.

Salary is dependent on qualifications (incentive compensation available for reaching milestones associated with obtaining RMC license).
